Interview with Hannah Miller – Polyface Summer Intern 2013

This week, I’d like to introduce you to one of our girls. Hannah is a sweetheart. She always has a ready smile and a set of helping hands. I’ve greatly enjoyed getting to know her over the last four weeks.

Hannah is from Southern Mississippi and is the second eldest of five kids. She was home-schooled and is the 5th generation consecutive farmer in her family. Not many can say that! 🙂

She and her family raise dairy goats and sell raw goat milk. They also make awesome goat milk soap and other body products.

Hannah, thank you so much for being here today.

What did you least expect about the internship?

How much fun we have while we’re working. I was expecting hard work and long days, but not all the fun and camaraderie.

What would you consider your hobby?

I like to make people laugh. I love finding other people’s sense of humor and taking part in it.

What do you see yourself doing after you leave Polyface?

My hope and goal is to be able to farm with the knowledge that I have gained here. I’ll probably start out on my grandfather’s farm and from there… I’ll go where God leads.

We’re all a little like that aren’t we? We start with what we know and put one foot in front of the other, going where we’re led and pretty soon we are able to look back to see how much we’ve learned and experienced.

Hen House Readers, where are you going in your life? What step are you taking to get there?

Where am I going in my life? Well, in some accounts I’m already there… wife and mother… but I daily have to seek the Lord to submit to his will in those areas and there is always so much more room to grow. Serving doesn’t come natural to me. For myself, I wanted to be a writer since forever and I am trying to work on a novel when time permits and I try to blog often. Family wise we are trying to move in a more healthy and self-sufficient lifestyle. It is a work in progress.

With God at the helm you can do no wrong. It is refreshing to see young people with so much faith, hope, and joy in their hearts. Our future is bright with young people like this taking over. God bless your journey, life is the greatest adventure.
