Well I hope everyone had a fabulous, fun, and safe Thanksgiving! We sure had a great time at our house and I’m excited that I can finally listen to Christmas music without guilt! 🙂
Now onto the highlights of our Thanksgiving feast…the MEAT! I got the name wrong when I mentioned it last week–it’s called a Turducken (I obviously don’t have much experience with these things! 🙂 ) which is a chicken inside a duck, inside a turkey with stuffing between each layer! Are you drooling yet?!
Honestly, I was a little skeptical that it was going to work but Buddy and Grady (Erin’s husband) proved me wrong and did an AMAZING job! Grady started by de-boning all the meat, then he layered the meat and stuffing. The most amusing part was trying to get everything to hold together, but they used kitchen twine and sewed it right up! We put it in the oven and about 5 or 6 hours later it was a glorious sight to behold–beautifully golden brown and cooked to perfection! The great thing about a Turducken is that instead of carving it like a normal turkey, you can cut straight into in more like a ham.
I think we may have started a new turducken tradition because everyone LOVED it! The only thing we need to change for next year is to invite more people because we had leftovers for days (it was a 27lb. turkey!).
