The Hunt Camp

Last week I promised to share why the sawmill has been so busy recently and here it is!  The Polyface Hunt Camp!

When this building is finished it will be housing for the guy interns next summer, our apprentice manager, Eric, and our apprentices Jonathan and Ben.  Heather, our first female apprentice (yeah!), gets a cottage all to herself.

It is amazing to me to have seen the logs come down the mountain, watch them be cut on the sawmill, and now to see the lumber used for this building!  Just another facet of Polyface!

About Leanna Hale

Leanna Barth, born and raised in NC, first came to Polyface in July 2010 to attend one of the Intensive Discovery Seminars. She loved it so much that she applied for an internship position and was accepted for the 2011 season, after which she took the inventory/gardener position. Before coming to Polyface, she sold produce from her family’s market garden, along with homemade baked goods. This venture was mostly inspired by having read “You Can Farm” by Joel Salatin. Having always loved the outdoors, animals, and gardening Leanna is excited about this coming year, all that she will learn, and how the Lord will use this job later on in her life.

Thanks for the picture! It looks like it is coming along nicely since when we saw it a couple weeks ago! Using the lumber milled right at Polyface is such an amazing example of all of what happens there. I am also impressed with all that Jonathan and the others are learning through the building experience on top of the other responsibilities at Polyface!

  2. We need so much more of this. As a society we are lead to believe we can’t do things for ourselves and must take out mortgages and have debt. Praise for all that you guys do!
