The Broiler Biography | Week 2
avatar

In case you missed it last week, I’ve begun documenting the life of our broiler chickens and we’re now on week 2.

The chicks are still living in the brooder and are cute as can be. They’re a lot more active and much harder to keep still for a picture though!! It’s like they have their own little Olympics going on in there…running in circles jumping over the feeders, and sometimes one finds an interesting bug and the others start chasing it… and then it becomes more like The Hunger Games…but that’s a different blog post. 🙂

As you can see, the birds are loosing some of that yellow coloring and turning more white. And this little guy is not too excited to be held…

Happy Monday and stay tuned for week three of “The Broiler Biography”.

  1. His body is lengthening too. I love watching the antics while they’re little like this. Great entertainment. You’ll have to post a picture from each week at the end of the series so we can see how much they change in side by side pictures. Even though I raise these birds myself, I’m always a bit surprise at just how fast and how much they change.

This is great! Thanks for posting the different stages! Any chance you could show their brooder environment on one of these? For newbie’s like me seeing how the pros are doing it would be really great!

    Thanks again

Are you still using Cornish cross birds for broilers? If not, what did you replace them with?

  4. I SAW A PICTURE OF A BLACK CHICKEN WITH IT LOOKED ALMOST LIKE FUR ON ITS LEGS DO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND THIS IS?
