What inspires you?

What makes you happy? What makes your creative juices flow?

There are so many things that inspire me to be a better person, a better wife, a better mom, a better farmer.

My kids inspire me to be a better mom. They look at me with confidence, urging me to make the best decisions for them.

People are inspiring to me. People who take a stand for their beliefs when no one else will stand with them. People with passion for life. I think about a chef, stroking a piece of meat, inspired to turn the raw product into a masterpiece.

A musician plucks away at keys or strings until a beautiful melody breaks forth into a song.

A gardener tills the land and plants those teeny tiny seeds, waiting patiently for the green to show.

Have you ever noticed how the little things in life sometimes make the most difference?

Remember the old saying, “Take time to stop and smell the roses.” When was the last time we stopped the busyness of life to look at the little things?

Some of my favorite little things in no particular order are:

  • A child’s laugh
  • The color blue
  • Sunsets
  • A cow’s moo
  • A babbling brook
  • Words on a page
  • A hug from a friend
  • A note of encouragement
  • A smile
  • Birds’ songs
  • Fireflies
  • Honeybees
  • A crackling fire

How about you? What little things have you stopped to notice? Share them.

  2. Thanks for asking Sheri, I love sharing about things like this. I get immense inspiration from studying Torah. Also, another source for me is seeing people strive and being their highest, truest selves.

My kids’ curiosity, new flavors of ice cream, a ream of blank paper, the change in temperature as summer turns into fall, little sprouts in the garden…
