The End of Summer…and New Beginnings

August seems to by flying by and fall is just around the corner.

Where did the summer go? It sure has been a fun season! We’ve worked hard, learned a lot, and made some great memories.

This week has been unusually cool, which has sent us digging up our sweaters and jackets. One morning was in the lower 40s and I even caught a glimpse of my breath as I walked to chores yesterday. With the coolness of fall in the air, I’m thinking about this season coming to a close. It seems like yesterday when our first batch of chicks arrived – the same day I posted my (first!) blog post, “You Know You’re A Farm Girl If…” : It’s hard to believe that eight batches later, this week the final batch of little biddies are going out to pasture!

I’m also anticipating the coming of fall. I don’t know about you, but I just love new beginnings – new experiences, newly folded laundry, new friendships, new places, a newly organized home, a new day, new seasons. I’ve never had a “favorite” season, but I do love the transition and “new-ness” of what is ahead. It’s like everything is starting over and there’s so much to look forward to. With fall comes chilly mornings, cute sweaters, great spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, hunting season, warm comfort food, and time spent indoors making things or just hanging out together. It’s almost like the new season isn’t coming soon enough.

What about fall are you looking forward to? What about the next season in your life?

This is a picture I took last fall. Driving through backroads in the fall is one of my favorite pastimes!
